Participate in our research

Many of our studies rely on volunteers who are willing to spend time in our lab. What we ask of participants varies by experiment. Sometimes we collect data on muscles and bones, using an MRI scanner. Other times, we study how people walk, measuring gait in 3D in our motion capture lab. We sometimes seek participants from specific demographics to ensure diverse and representative groups.

If you are interested in participating, you can check our current projects below and sign up for a specific study. You can also leave your details with us, and we will contact you if you are eligible for future research. Participation is always voluntary, you can say no at any time.

The data we collect helps drive new discoveries and innovations. We share it with the wider research community whenever possible, always in anonymized form so no one can identify individual participants.

Diversity Outside In

In 2027, we will launch a large population study to explore how musculoskeletal properties vary across different demographic groups. We are looking for many volunteers who are willing to take part in body measurements, including MRI scans, 3D body scans, muscle strength tests, and ultrasound assessments of their muscles.

We plan to open registration for volunteers at the end of 2026 — stay tuned if you’re interested in participating and helping us advance our understanding of human movement.
