Personalized Sports as Medicine

Today, Robert-Jan de Vos (Erasmus MC), Marienke van Middelkoop (Erasmus MC), and I embarked on a journey with a bold ambition – to create a consortium focused on ‘Personalized Sports as Medicine.’

The questions we’re asking:
🤔 How can we inspire more people, including patients, to start exercising?
🏃‍♀️ How do we make exercise sustainable and safe, tailored to individual needs and circumstances?
🔄 And, how can we guide individuals back to sports after an injury?

Our first real-life session brought together a great mix of expertise: clinicians, physiotherapists, designers, biomechanics, engineers, runners, data scientists, and sports psychology. Their collective knowledge and dedication were great to be part of.

A massive shoutout to Flatland Agency for facilitating this visual success! 🎉 The energy in the room was palpable, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us next.

Thanks to Carlijn Gunst (TU Delft | Sports Engineering Institute) and Puck van de Bovenkamp (TU Delft Health Initiative) for their support in organizing and championing this initiative. 🙌

Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this path to make personalized sports a powerful tool in prevention and healthcare, one step at a time. 💪
